Apģērbu apmaiņas punkts (2025)

Project Type

Interactive installation

Apģērbu apmaiņas punkts (English: Clothing Exchange Point) is a public project situated at Pētertirgus (Peter’s Market) in Liepāja, where visitors are invited to leave behind clothing, shoes, or accessories they no longer need—and to take anything they find useful, free of charge. The initiative began with garments donated by the local community for the performance Hoarder, which opened the contemporary art exhibition Concerns. Crazy Days. These same garments now fill the shop’s racks, continuing their circulation beyond the performance.

The project arises from a recognition of shared excess. As artists, we acknowledge our own tendencies to accumulate—mirroring the compulsions explored in Hoarder, where clothing becomes both comfort and burden. The exchange point offers a way to let go of what has been hoarded, to make space, and to respond to need through simple redistribution.

The shop is open throughout the run of Concerns. Crazy Days, which continues until May 28, 2025, and is organized by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation as part of the city’s program as a European Capital of Culture. Video documentation of the performance is also on view in the space, connecting the ongoing exchange to the performance that sparked it.

Apģērbu apmaiņas punkts is made possible by the contributions of local residents and the support of Liepāja 2027.
