Material values (2025)

What is the extent of your autonomy? In Material Values, an absent authority establishes a system where bodies respond to forces they cannot negotiate, navigate limits they did not set, and compete with others just like them. Each crash alters the system slightly, but the game is fixed—and there are no winners.

By assigning agency to inert materials—glass, sound waves, mechanical vibration—the work explores non-human causality and interaction. The human is displaced from the center, allowing material forces and object relations to drive the performance. The piece aligns with a posthuman framework, where meaning and motion emerge from the entanglement of physical systems rather than human control.
